United Nations peacekeeping troops have taken control of the Abidjan airport after local security forces left their posts amid increased violence associated with Cote d'Ivoire's political crisis. Fighters looking to oust incumbent President Laurent Gbagbo -- who has refused to leave office despite losing a November election -- have seized cities and towns en route to Abidjan this week where they have threatened to take fighting to Gbagbo's residence.
