Tucson, Ariz.'s retail market is far healthier than comparable cities of its size, according to Nancy McClure, a retail specialist in CBRE's Tucson office -- despite figures that tell a different tale. CBRE is reporting little has changed in a year for the city, with negative net absorption and vacancy rates remaining the same. Still, McClure says, demand from retailers is strong even as bankruptcies cause more space to open up. "Retailers are reporting strong sales in Tucson, which encourages them to expand here."
