The Environmental Protection Agency should review how it conducts risk assessments under the Integrated Risk Information System program, Dow Chemical said in comments submitted on what regulations the agency should revisit. The company said the EPA must sometimes choose between a default assumption and data contradicting the assumption. "Unfortunately, EPA often chooses to maintain a default assumption even in cases where the weight of scientific evidence would suggest otherwise," which creates a disincentive for companies to use data, Dow Chemical said.
