A group known as Citizens Against Leafblower Mania has asked the Board of Selectmen in Greenwich, Conn., to impose a six-month ban on leaf blowers, saying they cause too much noise and air pollutants. However, former Echo executive Larry Will said most manufacturers of leaf blowers have already lessened the equipment's emission by 90%, and Echo has turned down the noise levels of some of its leaf blowers to that of a conversation -- about 65 decibels.
