A hearing was held in federal court Wednesday on a lawsuit brought by teachers in Arizona's Tucson district over a state law that could alter or eliminate Mexican-American studies. Teachers say the law -- preventing schools from offering courses that target a particular ethnic group -- is racially biased and violates equal protection, free speech and due process rights. Supporters of the law say the Mexican-American studies program promotes ethnic chauvinism.
