An Indiana House committee is expected to approve today a bill that would change the way the state's teachers are evaluated and paid, paving the way for a full House vote. The new evaluation system would create three levels of teacher ratings -- probationary, professional and established. The system would not allow teacher pay to be reduced, although it also would make it easier for districts to dismiss or withhold raises from teachers who consistently earn lower ratings.
