Patients with type 2 diabetes who use insulin sensitizers, such as metformin and thiazolidinediones, may have a lower risk of developing colon polyps, according to study data on more than 132,000 Veterans Affairs patients who had a colonoscopy. Researchers at the University of Kansas said other medications, such as NSAIDs, also were linked to a lower risk of having a polypectomy.
