Mexico's retail industry is well situated, given the country's sound fiscal position, workforce and diversified export base, according to Mexican economist Pedro Aspe Armella, a former government secretary of finance. He made his comments at ICSC's RECon Latin America conference. "The inflationary pressure is strong in some Latin American countries and this could put pressure on the duration of the economic recovery," he said. "But Mexico is an exception thanks to Banco de Mexico's spectacular management of the monetary policy."
