Versions of Miramar Labs' miraDry microwave device approved by the FDA but never marketed relieved axillary hyperhidrosis in controlled trials, dermatologists reported. After 30 days, 89% of patients treated with a second-generation version of the device had significant improvement, and 67% had continued positive results after six months, Dr. Suzanne Kilmer said. "This is innovative and interesting technology to address an issue that is very problematic for patients," said Dr. Mathew Avram, director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Dermatology Laser and Cosmetic Center.
