Columbus, Ohio-based Nationwide Children's Hospital is increasing its plastic and reconstructive surgery services, including adding a cleft lip and palate center as well as a 22q gene deletion clinic, and boosting hand reconstruction expertise. Chief of Plastic Surgery Dr. Richard Kirschner spearheaded the changes. He is an expert in 22q gene deletion, a condition in which the 22nd chromosome is missing, causing cleft palate and other abnormalities.
