Putzmeister is sending two giant pumps normally used for concrete in construction projects to Japan to help cool nuclear reactors there. "It's going to be pumping fresh water to the cooling ponds to start," said Putzmeister's Gary Schmidt. This is not the first time Putzmeister has helped in a nuclear emergency. The company also provided pumps to the Ukraine to help with the 1986 disaster at Chernobyl.
