Dr. Edward Zajac, director of Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Cardiology at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, has been diagnosing and treating arterial disease using radial access catheterization since March. Zajac said the procedure is less painful and has lower risk for complications than femoral catheterization. "The beauty of the radial access is that catastrophic bleeding rate in all major trials is zero, and the complication rate overall is incredibly low," Zajac said.
