A report in BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making found providers are frustrated with excessive alerts from electronic health records, saying they distract them from acting on the more urgent reminders such as abnormal patient test outcomes. But the report also found the small group of participating providers did not maximize their use of EHR functions, with 46% failing to utilize certain features that allow for better handling of electronic reminders.
