Rep. Randy Neugebauer, R-Texas, scheduled a hearing this week to look into a study by the Financial Stability Oversight Council about the "Volcker rule." Republican lawmakers said the council did not consider how the rule would affect competitiveness in the global banking industry. "Despite the potentially significant competitive effects of the U.S. unilaterally adopting the Volcker Rule, the Council's final study included only a single sentence referencing (but not addressing) this concern," according to a GOP memo.
