An analysis of malware conducted by security consultant Daniel Guido found that 27 security flaws accounted for the majority of attacks between 2009 and 2010, which supports the idea that companies should target only a handful of vulnerabilities that actually matter rather than everything that pops up to save themselves valuable time, money and energy. "If we can inform our defenses to focus on those capabilities, those tactics, and those techniques, then we can make much more effective defenses," Guido said.
