An Israeli study of 131 first-time mothers ages 45 to 65 found that four out of 10 women suffered pregnancy-related diabetes and two out of 10 experienced pre-eclampsia. The study in the journal Fertility and Sterility also found that 50% of babies of women ages 50 to 65 were born preterm and two out of three were underweight, compared with one of three babies of mothers ages 45 to 49 who were born premature, underweight or both.
