The least-expensive way to promote pets' dental health is prevention, but all dogs and cats will likely require teeth cleaning at some point in their lives, says Washington veterinarian Kevin Wilson. The price tag includes everything from a pre-anesthesia workup to proper tooth polishing, and the costs can vary by hundreds of dollars depending on whether the animal needs extractions or root canals and how many post-surgery medications are required.
