There are 3 million skyscrapers in the U.S. -- all consuming vast quantitied of energy and emitting greenhouse gases. However, more than 5,000 of them are undergoing simple retrofits, including recaulking, foam insulation and other easy fixes. "No matter what we do on the new-construction side, it is a fraction of what needs to be done with existing tall buildings," notes Rick Fedrizzi, CEO of U.S. Green Building Council.
