"Railway Maps of the World" offers a historical account of the development of railway surveying and mapping along with an atlas of the official maps used by every railway operator in the world. Author Mark Ovenden of the Royal Geographic Society said he hoped to create a book that would prove useful to researchers and fascinating to readers. "I wanted to be the first to make this comprehensive atlas -- which geographers will no doubt find useful -- and I was aiming for there to be something in the book for people bit by the travel bug," he said.
