Most Asian-Pacific share markets gained Tuesday, boosted by Japanese stocks. Traders were encouraged by a falling yen and strong data on industrial production. Japan's Nikkei 225 rose 1.6%, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index advanced 0.9%. South Korea's Kospi Composite added 2%, New Zealand's NZX 50 was unchanged and Taiwan's Taiex climbed 1.4%. China's Shanghai Composite slipped 0.1%. In afternoon trading, Singapore's Straits Times Index edged up 0.3%, Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur Composite tacked on 0.5%, Indonesian shares were unchanged, India's Sensex went up 1% and Thailand's SET slid 0.1%.
