GOP members of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee acknowledge that investing in high-speed rail along the Boston-D.C. corridor would be wise, but they want the Obama administration to go after private funding to help with the $117 billion project. "While the need and opportunity for a successful true high-speed rail project exists, the federal government cannot carry the full financial burden of public infrastructure projects," the committee leaders noted. The committee will hold a hearing on Thursday.
