The House Energy and Commerce Committee on Tuesday advanced a bill that would enable a multiagency review of the Environmental Protection Agency's regulations. The measure seeks to examine how EPA's rules are affecting the economy through energy prices and employment. "Simply put, the American people and this Congress deserve to know exactly how much these regulations are costing our economy," said Rep. John Sullivan, R-Okla., a co-sponsor of the bill.

Gary Gensler, chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, is encouraging Congress to allow rules for the derivatives market as mandated by the Dodd-Frank Act to move forward. FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell sees the quadrennial review of media ownership rules as an opportunity for the agency to "get it right" concerning new media platforms. "My job at this juncture, I believe, is to try to keep Washington out of your way as much as possible while you figure out what works," he told the Virginia Association of Broadcasters. "Journalism especially does not need the government's 'help.' "
