A team of astrophysicists has unveiled the scientific community's most detailed three-dimensional map of the local universe. The 2MASS Redshift Survey locates more than 43,000 galaxies and spans 380 million light-years from our Milky Way galaxy. The 3D map was made possible by combining images from telescopes in Arizona and Chile with near-infrared images from the Two-Micron All-SkySurvey.
