A study of 54 patients with clogged arteries who were treated with stents and blood-thinning drugs found that those who consumed omega-3 fatty acids developed fewer clots than those who were given a placebo, and the clots that did develop were easier to disrupt. However, the findings may not apply to other patients, including those who are healthy or have not used blood-thinning drugs, researchers reported in Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology: Journal of the American Heart Association.
