Manufacturers shouldn't sneer at job candidates with experience in the fast-food sector, writes Austin Weber. Many plant managers say the skills workers pick up in the food industry transfer well to jobs on the factory floor, where consistency, standardization and teamwork are equally prized. "Perhaps the skills needed to mass-produce burgers, shakes and fries also translate well to assembling cars, planes and refrigerators," Weber writes.
