A spinoff of Colorado State University called the Veterinary Emerging Technologies Development Corp., or VetDC, hopes to leverage a $200,000 investment from a nonprofit created to boost the state's biotech industry into enough money to launch trials of a promising chemotherapy drug to treat lymphoma in dogs. About 1.2 million dogs are diagnosed with cancer annually, about 200,000 of them with lymphoma, an aggressive cancer that's often fatal.
