While PET/MRI is a modality of great interest in the nuclear medicine community, its benefits must still be justified in the clinical setting before it can be widely adopted, said Bruce Rosen, professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School. During his keynote speech at the SNM annual meeting in San Antonio, Texas, Rosen said that in the future, the hybrid method may be of use in reducing women and children's exposure to radiation and in tracking treatment response in patients with epilepsy, cardiac disease and dementia.
