The International Green Construction Code seeks to help cities integrate green-building principles into their own building codes, and one of its sections aims to reduce waste material on construction sites. The code's Section 502.1 says that at least 50% of non-hazardous construction waste should be diverted from landfills through implementation of a "Construction Material and Waste Management Plan." Waste materials could be diverted from landfills by recycling them, reusing them for other projects or by selling them to other builders.
