Many people get hung up on the data-driven measures of teacher effectiveness, suggests leadership coach Elena Aguilar. However, she writes about the importance of qualitative judgments, such as whether a child can recognize and explain what they've learned over the course of a school year or if a teacher has managed to integrate creativity and the arts into lessons. Aguilar also writes that a student's positive feelings about a teacher also are an indicator of effectiveness.
