Data on 402 participants found that females with type 1 diabetes ages 12 to 19 were more overweight and higher blood glucose and cholesterol levels than their male counterparts. The findings presented at the annual meeting of the American Diabetes Association suggest that girls and young women with type 1 diabetes may develop markers for cardiovascular disease at an early age, experts said.
