About 900 projects in Virginia could get under way after the commonwealth's transportation board approved a six-year budget that includes $8.3 billion for the Department of Transportation and $2.3 billion for the Department of Rail and Public Transportation. "After years of budget cuts and delaying critical projects, it is time to begin repairing our transportation infrastructure and tackling the congestion problems that continue to worsen with time," said Gov. Bob McDonnell. A special office has been created to develop public-private projects across all transportation modes.
