Preparing students for college and careers goes beyond academic support, says National Board Certified Teacher Anthony S. Colucci, who writes that money management should be part of school instruction. To improve students' financial literacy, Colucci suggests teachers introduce students to potential careers, partner with experts and groups and use resources provided by the Council for Economic Education. He also recommends linking money to existing lessons, such as math problems based on grocery store prices.
