The FDA has issued a draft guidance outlining certain mobile health applications that it intends to regulate, which will be up for comment for 90 days after it's published in the Federal Register on Thursday. "Our draft approach calls for oversight of only those mobile medical apps that present the greatest risk to patients when they don't work as intended," said Dr. Jeffrey Shuren, the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health director. The FDA estimates the number of mobile health care application users will top 500 million by 2015.
