The Kuroiler is a hybrid chicken that's a good provider of both meat and eggs and thrives on a diet of agricultural and household waste, making the bird an ideal solution for feeding poor families in developing countries, Arizona State University researcher Jagdev Sharma told attendees at this week's AVMA meeting in St. Louis. A study of the birds in Uganda revealed that Kuroilers have the ability to increase meat production 133% and egg production 462% over native chickens.
