The prices charged by manufacturers for LCD panels used for PC monitors, televisions and notebooks are expected to climb as buyers look to build excess inventory to protect against supply complications like those that arose from the Japanese earthquake in March, according to research firm IHS iSuppli. Yet "[c]onsumer demand for the major products using LCD panels ... remains weak, especially in the United States and Europe," said Sweta Dash of IHS iSuppli.
