GIS mapping is being used to speed the cleanup of Joplin, Mo., properties damaged by a tornado earlier this year. The Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri National Guard are mapping out the properties in need of clearing and have increased the efficiency of cleanup crews. "One hour in the desk can probably save a whole day for one person out in the field," said U.S. Army Corps of Engineers GIS specialist Nicholas Laskowsi.
