A study presented at the annual meeting of the American Diabetes Association found a 2.1% reduction in hemoglobin A1c levels in those who took one insulin dose a day in addition to the basal dosage, and 2.2% reduction in those who took three additional insulin doses a day at meal times. The findings suggest that adding one extra dose of insulin may be as effective as taking three doses in patients with type 2 diabetes, experts said.
