Real-time mapping that updates in milliseconds allows the California Independent System Operator Corp. to monitor the state's power grid more efficiently. The system uses Google Maps and geospatial data to monitor the 85% of California's power load that the corporation is responsible for maintaining. The corporation can use the system to make sure it's procuring the cheapest available power and to immediately reroute power during a disaster.
