Wild animals, such as raccoons, foxes and coyotes, can cause several health problems in both humans and their domestic-animal companions, veterinarian Greg McGrath writes in this column. To avoid such things as infections and parasite transmission, Dr. McGrath says owners and pets should avoid direct contact with wild animals or their waste products, and pet owners should consult their veterinarians about vaccinations and parasite control measures to protect their pets against potential wildlife hazards.
