New details have emerged about how proposed waivers for states that do not meet some standards under No Child Left Behind could look, according to this blog post. Possibilities include requiring states to apply for three types of waivers, waiving the 2014 deadline for all students being proficient in math and reading if states agree to standards for college- and career-readiness, and waiving the requirement that all teachers be highly qualified if states develop their own evaluation systems.
