It's no secret that some restaurant websites prove incredibly unhelpful when it comes to helping prospective patrons find basic information, bombarding them with chef photos and bios when what they really want to know is what's on the menu and how much it costs, writes Slate's Farhad Manjoo. Conversations with experts led Manjoo to conclude that a big part of the problem stems from an entertainment-centric culture that encourages restaurateurs to control the experience.
