Students eligible for free school lunch will be able to take part in a new Comcast initiative that will provide home Internet for $9.95 per month and low-cost computers. Families have the next three school years to sign up and must meet several other criteria, including not having any unpaid Comcast bills. The plan is part of a regulatory requirement forced upon the company to expand broadband access for low-income households as result of the Comcast-NBC merger.
