The agreement to raise the government's debt ceiling might have helped some, but the economy remains fragile. "Ominous clouds have been hanging over the economy ever since President Obama and his Democratic allies on Capitol Hill took a regulatory two-by-four to Wall Street, the health-care industry and the energy sector, retarding the deployment of capital," McTague writes.
