Older overweight adults didn't have a significant difference in longevity regardless of whether they participated in weight-loss programs, according to data published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. The study found that men who shed pounds were less likely to die during the follow-up period than were their counterparts who didn't, but researchers said the finding warrants further investigation. Overall, the results suggest that weight loss is beneficial for those who are overweight or obese at any age, a researcher said.
