Credit is still tough to come by for many would-be restaurant operators, but during the downturn franchise companies provided incentives including credit support and fee reductions to help franchisees grow, and franchising remains a key growth path for restaurant companies, according to a report from Technomic. The top 400 restaurant franchise companies accounted for 10% of industry sales last year and made up 5% of all restaurant units, the report says.
