The Hoofprints in the Sand program helps people with disabilities to gain confidence by offering them horseback riding lessons. Tresa Skaggs, a special educator who started the program with members of her family six years ago at the family's equine center, was honored for her contributions at the 2011 Kentucky 4-H Horse Show. The program includes participants ages 5 to 63, and one middle-school girl in the program recently won first place at a District 4-H competition for riders with disabilities.
