The Utica Shale formation in Ohio could be a "transformative" discovery for the U.S., said Aubrey McClendon, chairman and CEO of Chesapeake Energy. As many as 25,000 wells could be drilled in Utica in the decades to come, McClendon said. Utica could also yield about 25 billion barrels of oil equivalent, he added.
