Teachers and administrators at 104 schools in Los Angeles will test a new teacher-evaluation method this year intended to provide instructors with greater feedback. The system is based on students' test scores, observations and student and parental feedback. Officials hope a permanent system -- which needs union approval -- will be in place by the 2012-13 school year. Teachers are being asked to help craft the system and recently attended training seminars, where they learned to complete the Web-based evaluations and watched instructional videos.
