UPS recently issued its ninth sustainability report, which included new data on water use and intensity, contained increased Scope 3 emissions reporting and showed a boost in fuel efficiency per delivery. That extra information is also more trustworthy, writes Matthew Wheeland, because UPS sought out third-party verification of its data. "Anyone who's not doing [these things] today will be doing them soon. It's all about being transparent, having a good, accurate rendering of your impacts to the environment -- it makes you more credible," said company sustainability chief Scott Wicker.
