Verizon Wireless has held successful trials in two states of a $50 unlimited monthly prepaid plan and may expand the offer to additional markets, Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo said Wednesday at an analysts conference. "It didn't cannibalize the base and we actually evaluated our prepaid business and took some share," he said. Shammo also said the carrier was surprised when Apple failed to release its next iPhone in June, noting that the delay has slowed Verizon's smartphone push this year.
